Regular price £27
You keep calling yourself lazy.
You’re not. You’re scared. That’s different.
You’re afraid to start in case you end up judging yourself as a failure and wishing you hadn’t bothered trying.
The Start Monday Myth
YOU BUY THE COURSE, THE GORGEOUS NOTEBOOK, THE FANCY PENS…
…AND THEN SOMEHOW NEVER QUITE GET ROUND TO STARTING LESSON ONE.
YOU PLAN IT AS IF YOU’RE HOSTING A ROYAL WEDDING.
You make the list. You colour-code the list. You rewrite the list because the first one didn’t look quite neat enough.
You’ll start on Monday. Properly.
And then Monday arrives… and suddenly you have 52 very good reasons not to start.
So… you don’t do it.
You’re not incapable. Your brain is trying to protect you.
Why?
The thought of starting makes you want to hide under your duvet.
The thought of getting it wrong makes your stomach drop.
So your Inner Bitch pipes up. (You know the one… that voice in your head who’s always telling you you’re not good enough, you’ll fail anyway so no point even trying).
And now doing nothing feels like the safest option.
And so the ‘haven’t done it yet’ cycle continues...
‘I did the workbook on a Sunday afternoon and within an hour I’d finally sent the email I’d been putting off for weeks. Turns out the fear in my head was much bigger than the thing itself.’
— Clare, UK
What’s Actually Happening
What masquerades as laziness is usually your Inner Bitch trying to protect you.
Buying all the gear
Convincing yourself the perfect £60 pastel bullet journal is the missing ingredient.
Waiting ‘til you’re ready’
Not booking that solo trip because you ‘should probably learn Spanish first.’
Quitting at the first hurdle
Getting one rejection and deciding you’re clearly unemployable.
Productive procrastination
Alphabetising your bookshelves when you actually have a room to paint.
So I built a workbook that cuts in right at that moment your Inner Bitch starts talking you out of things.
INTRODUCING…
Fight Your Fear of Failure: The Workbook
A ‘Just Start the Damn Thing Kick-Up-the-Bum’ Action Plan
This is NOT a 60-page personality transplant. It’s short. It’s easy. And it’s quick. We sort out what’s stopping you, and get you started. All in one session. Whilst you’re still scared.
Expose the fear properly – You’ll identify the exact thought that keeps stopping you.
De-dramatise the worst-case story – You’ll write out the disaster your brain keeps rehearsing – and realise it’s far less terrifying (or utterly unlikely) on paper.
Collect real evidence – You’ll find proof that others have done it (and so can you) and that you're far more capable than your Inner Bitch would like you to believe.
Create a Plan B safety net – So ‘what if it goes wrong?’ stops being an excuse.
Visualise the win – So your nervous system feels excitement instead of dread.
And because I’m nice like that… I’ll even chuck in a couple of bonuses.
1. The Inner Bestie Success Audio
Some days you won’t want to journal. Pop your headphones in, press play, and let me talk you through what it could feel like if you’d just take that first tiny action.
2. Sweary Colouring for Amusing Mindfulness
Grab your colouring pencils and use this to chill the eff out. It’s the perfect way to give your overworked brain a break while having a little chuckle at some naughty words.
IMAGINE YOURSELF THIS TIME NEXT WEEK, HAVING…
- • Applied for that dream job – and now you see yourself in your new suit, in your shiny new office, smashing your to-dos and proving what a bloody good asset you are.
- • Asked for the pay rise or promotion you know you deserve – and walking out of that meeting feeling about three inches taller.
- • Started dating again – and feeling that flutter of excitement that reminds you your love life isn’t over… it’s just been waiting for you to shave your legs.
- • Started writing the book that’s been living in your head for years – and the words are pouring out faster than you can type. Move over, JK Rowling.
- • Walked into that class, club, or hobby you keep saying you’ll try – and coming out buzzing, already planning when you can practise your new skills with the friends you’ve just made.
- • Stepped inside the gym you’ve been paying for – and feeling that glorious rush of ‘I did it and I’m still alive’ endorphins as you hit the showers afterwards.
- • Or… finally begun whatever that thing is you’ve been putting off – and realising it wasn’t nearly as terrifying as your Inner Bitch made it sound… and wondering why on earth you waited so long.
Why I Made This
I made this workbook because for years I felt like my life was on hold. Deep down, I knew there were things I wanted to do... but I just wasn't doing them.
Can you believe I actually used to say this out loud?
What a Defeatist Dierdre! I'd never actually stopped to think what 'failing' even meant.
MY EXCUSES EVOLVED FROM...
'I'm too young' to 'I'm probably too old now'
But 'Not good enough' and 'Who do you think you are?'
played on a loop in my head. Until one day, someone told me: 'Maybe you're right not to try.'
And my first reaction was: 'Oh I'll bloody well show you.'
But before I could prove them wrong, I had to prove myself wrong first. I had to silence the voices saying: 'You can't,' 'You'll mess it up,' and 'Don't embarrass yourself.'
So I started looking for proof. Real people who had started scared. People who had got things wrong. People who had done it anyway.
The simple process I used to stop my Inner Bitch talking me out of things eventually turned into this workbook. Because once you realise fear doesn’t actually get to make the decisions... starting becomes a whole lot easier.
You might be thinking:
I hear you. I've been there.
BUT HERE'S THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH:
You haven't tried everything.
Because if you had, something would have worked by now. Most people haven’t tried something that interrupts the sabotage pattern.
But now you can.
What they’re saying…
‘My Inner Bitch is already starting to shut down to a murmur.’
I absolutely LOVE this. It’s like Jo is talking about me when she describes the Inner Bitch...
– KARYN, US
‘It was such a good reminder that the voice in my head isn’t the truth.’
Jo’s workbook arrived just as I was having a wobble and it was exactly what I needed.’
– LISA, UK
‘It helped break the negative thought cycle.’
Before I started the toolkit I was stressed and doubting myself...’
